About Spongellé

Spongellé is the creator of the Body Wash Infused Buffer, a proprietary all-in-one beauty treatment that combines cleansing, exfoliation, and moisturization in a single reusable buffer infused with award-winning fragrances. Founded in the US and distributed in major retail chains including Walmart and Sprouts, the brand has built a loyal community through a distinctive product concept and an expanding range of licensed collections spanning Crayola, Bluey, Harry Potter, and DC Superhero. Spongellé operates with 135,000+ followers on Instagram and 137,000+ on TikTok, and runs an active loyalty program, referral network, and subscription offering alongside its core catalog of body buffers, pedi buffers, moisturizers, and home fragrances.

Spongellé has been a Videowise partner for over three years, using shoppable video carousels on the homepage, UGC stories on product pages, and Email & SMS integrations to bring customer content into the purchase experience.

The Challenge

Consumer discovery is changing faster than most brands are adapting to it. A growing share of shoppers now turn to AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews to get product recommendations, not just to search for URLs. Queries like "what's the best body scrub for sensitive skin," "is there a body wash that also exfoliates," or "what body buffer lasts the longest" are increasingly answered by AI models pulling from indexed, structured content across the web.

For Spongellé, whose signature product occupies a category most consumers have never heard of, this shift carries a specific risk. A shopper who asks an AI assistant "what is a body wash infused buffer?" or "which bath brands do dermatologists recommend" is at the education stage of their journey. If Spongellé does not appear in that answer, a competitor who does will define the category for that shopper before Spongellé gets a chance to.

Traditional SEO addresses search ranking. It does not address what an AI model says when someone asks for a recommendation in natural language. Brands that do not proactively structure their content for AI indexing leave that conversation to competitors, to generic summaries, or to no one at all.

The Solution

Videowise AI Visibility transforms existing UGC video content into structured, AI-indexed Q&A that language models can surface in answers. Spongellé activated the feature in just a few days, layering it on top of their existing Videowise setup.

The result is a dedicated AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) page on spongelle.com that answers 118 real customer questions using 171 UGC video citations across 25 products. Each Q&A pair is structured to match the kind of natural language queries people actually send to AI assistants:

  • "Can the Spongellé buffer be used multiple times?",
  • "How many washes do the body wash buffers provide?",
  • "Are the buffers convenient for travel?",
  • "What are the different functions of the Spongellé buffer?"

Every answer is backed by a real customer video pulled from TikTok or Instagram, which serves as the citation source for AI engines pulling from the page.

This approach gives AI models exactly what they need to cite a brand confidently: specific, question-matched, source-verified content. Rather than hoping AI assistants pick up information from product descriptions or blog posts, Spongellé now has a structured layer of customer-generated proof built specifically for how AI search works.

Each PDP now has its own “Your questions, answered” section, with dedicated clips answering a specific question.

AI Visibility sits on top of Spongellé's broader Videowise implementation across their storefront. On the homepage, a Quickshop video carousel lets shoppers browse and add to cart without leaving the page.

On PDPs, a shoppable video carousel and UGC stories below the Add to Cart button surface real customer content at the highest-intent moment in the purchase journey.

The Results

Measured from July 8 to October 22, 2026, across the AI Visibility Dashboard:

  • 17.5% AI Visibility Score: Spongellé is mentioned in 17.5% of relevant LLM answers in their category, the highest of any tracked competitor.
The score grew from roughly 10% at activation to a peak of ~22% before settling at 17.5%, reflecting a sustained upward trend over the period.
  • Ranked #1 in their competitive set, ahead of EcoTools (11.8%), Tooletries (7.8%), Salux (7.2%), and Diptyque (7%).
  • #2.2 average ranking across LLM answers, meaning that when Spongellé is cited, it appears near the top of AI-generated responses.
  • 118 questions indexed, 171 video citations, 25 products covered on their AEO page.

Spongellé's Body Wash Infused Buffer is a product that requires explanation before it can be understood and desired. AI Visibility turns that explanation challenge into a competitive advantage: when a shopper asks an AI what to use in the shower, Spongellé is the most likely brand to be named.
