How We Use Your Data (Transparency Report)

We are committed to being transparent about the data we request and why we request it. Only access to permissions critically necessary for implementing our application or service's functionality is requested. We do not request access to information we don't need, nor do we attempt to "future proof" our access to user data. Whenever possible, we request access to user data in context (via incremental authentication) so that users understand why we need the data and how it will be used, immediately preceding the request for user consent.

When you choose to connect your Google Account with Videowise, we will request access to specific information. Below, we explain exactly what data we access through these permissions and the precise purpose for which we use it.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• Requested Scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email
  What it means for you: "See your primary Google Account email address"

  Purpose of Access: We request access to your primary Google Account email address solely for:

  1. Account Identification: To uniquely identify your account within Videowise and link your data to a consistent user profile. This allows us to keep your settings and activity organized.
  2. Personalization: To personalize your experience within the app, such as displaying your email in your profile settings for your own reference.
  3. Communication (Optional): If you opt-in to receive notifications or updates from us, your email will be used for essential communication about your account or important app features. We will never use your email for spam or share it with third parties without your explicit consent.

  We do not use your email address for any other purposes, such as sending unsolicited marketing emails.

  What it means for you: "See your personal info, including any personal info you've made publicly available"

  Purpose of Access: We request access to your basic profile information solely for:

  1. Personalized User Experience: To provide a more welcoming and personalized experience within Videowise. This includes displaying your name (if available) and profile picture (if available and you've made it public) within your app profile.
  2. Displaying Your Name/Photo: This helps you feel more comfortable and familiar with the app, seeing a personalized welcome or your own image.

  We only access the personal information you have made publicly available through your Google profile settings. We do not access private profile details unless explicitly granted by other, separate permissions (which are not covered by this scope). We do not share this profile information with external parties.

• Requested Scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly
  What it means for you: "See and download all your Google Drive files"

  Purpose of Access: We request access to your Google Drive files solely to enable you to seamlessly import video assets directly from your Google Drive into the Videowise platform.

  1. Direct Video Import: This allows you to browse and select video files stored in your Google Drive and upload them to your Videowise account. This streamlines your workflow by eliminating the need to download files to your local machine and then re-upload them.
  2. Content Management: Once imported, these videos can be processed, optimized, and prepared for your e-commerce channels using Videowise's features (e.g., adding shoppable elements, performance optimization).

  Our Approved Use of Google Drive API:

  Our access and use of the Google Drive API are strictly in accordance with Google's API Services User Data Policy, which requires that applications only request access when they meet an approved use case. Specifically, our usage falls under the category of "Productivity and educational applications that only use Restricted Scopes to handle Drive files (or their metadata or permissions) via the application's user interface." This allows you to select and import video assets directly from your Google Drive into our platform for content management and optimization purposes, entirely within the application's interface.

  We explicitly confirm that Videowise does not engage in any of the prohibited uses of the Google Drive API, such as serving as a general content delivery network, backing up developer's app content to Drive, cryptocurrency mining, broad video distribution or dissemination of copyrighted content without authorization, file cloning to circumvent storage limits, or abusing Google policies with multiple accounts.

  Important Notes on Data Handling:

  • We will only access the specific files you explicitly choose to import. We do not read or access any other files in your Google Drive.
  • We do not modify or delete any files in your Google Drive. We only perform a read operation (download) to copy the content into our system.
  • Your imported files are treated with the same privacy and security standards as any other content you upload to Videowise, as outlined in our Privacy Policy. We do not share these files with third parties without your explicit consent.

Your privacy is our top priority. We implement robust security measures to protect your data and ensure that any information we collect is used strictly for the purposes outlined above. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Our Commitment to Limited Use & Sharing of User Data

Upon accessing data through Google Workspace APIs for an appropriate use, our use of the data obtained strictly complies with Google's User Data Policy, specifically the "Limited Use" requirements. These requirements apply to data derived from both Sensitive and Restricted scopes.

• Limited Use for Functionality: We limit our use of data to providing or improving your appropriate use case or features that are visible and prominent in the Videowise application's user interface.
• Strict Data Transfer Policy:

  Transfers of data are not allowed, except:

  1. To provide or improve your appropriate use case or user-facing features that are visible and prominent in the requesting application's user interface and only with your explicit consent.
  2. For security purposes (for example, investigating abuse).
  3. To comply with applicable laws and/or regulations.
  4. As part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets of the developer after obtaining explicit prior consent from the user.
• No Human Access to User Data:

  We do not allow humans to read user data, unless:

  1. We have obtained and documented your explicit consent to read specific data (for example, helping a user re-access the product or a service after having lost their password).
  2. The data (including derivations) is aggregated and anonymized and used for internal operations in accordance with applicable privacy and other jurisdictional legal requirements.
  3. It's necessary for security purposes (for example, investigating abuse).
  4. To comply with applicable laws and/or regulations.
• Strict Prohibition on Other Uses and Sales:

  All other transfers, uses, or sale of user data is completely prohibited, including:

  1. Transferring or selling user data to third parties like advertising platforms, data brokers, or any information resellers.
  2. Transferring, selling, or using user data for serving ads, including retargeting, personalized or interest-based advertising.
  3. Transferring, selling, or using user data to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes.
  4. Transferring, selling, or using user data to create, train, or improve a machine learning or artificial intelligence model beyond that specific user’s personalized model for the appropriate use case or user-facing feature.
